When the client provides unclear or vague requirements, I’d handle it like this:

  1. I’d start by asking the right questions to get a clearer understanding of their needs. This could involve setting up meetings and workshops or using prototypes to get feedback.
  2. I’d work with the client to define a more concrete scope, breaking down big goals into smaller, manageable tasks. If necessary, I’d get them to prioritize what’s most important.
  3. I’d ensure the client understands what’s achievable within the given constraints like time, budget, and resources—to avoid misunderstandings later.
  4. Since the requirements might change, I’d build a flexible project plan with room for adjustments, including regular check-ins to ensure we’re on the right track.
  5. I’d keep the lines of communication open, ensuring the client is involved throughout the process providing feedback as we go to avoid major changes late in the project.
