Explain to me the concept of HUE

I am started to learn Big Data. I wish to understand about Hue. I know that HUE is a web interface to manage the Hadoop ecosystem, please explain me in detail and also let me know if I can install it on Ubuntu.

Definition:

HUE is an open-source SQL Cloud Editor, licensed under the Apache v2 license. It is a set of software applications designed to serve web-based accessibility to CDH components and a platform for building custom software applications.

Features:

HUE is an open source SQL Cloud Editor for browsing, querying and visualizing data. Its goal is to make self-service data querying more widespread in organizations.

Applications:

  • Editors for any SQL languages like Hive, Impala, MySQL, Solr, Oracle, SparkSQL, Solr SQL, Phoenix... and jobs like Pig, MapReduce, Spark...
  • Dashboards to dynamically interact and visualize data.
  • The process of the scheduling of jobs and workflows is managed by HUE.
  • Browsers for Jobs, HDFS, S3 files, SQL Tables, Indexes, Git files, Sentry permissions, Sqoop and more.
