It's all true but just getting hands-on on the tech won't help you because to fetch a job with a handsome salary you will have to get certified with a reputated institution.

Though people who have studied DevOps get highly paid, most of the companies require the candidates to have 8-10 years of experience. With that much of experience(and even with lesser experience than that), designations like Software Architect and Data Scientist will also get paid higher than that of a DevOps Engineer.

DevOps is not a technology, its a culture... So when you are learning DevOps, along with that you are also learning about other technologies.. This will improve your technical skills... And increased skills means n increased opportunities and hence, higher pay..

Well DevOps is all about developing the best quality software in the shortest possible time and provisioning that to your clients.

So this is not like your traditional Java or Python interviews which can be cracked by grooming your skills.

To master DevOps and most of all, to crack an interview, It needs a lot of conceptual understanding from the grassroots and you should implement automation to make lives simpler. These are questions you will be expected to answer.

And hell yeah, the pay is definitely going to be more. Don't worry about how much more. :)

For the amount of work you have to do as a DevOps engineer do and the pressure he/she has to handle, the salary he/she gets is not enough... So better to look for another designation..

devops engineer gets paid at least 25-35% higher than software engineer. but with that, you have to also consider the stress and risks of the role.. its not easy to be a devops engineer.. you have to be adaptable, versatile and must be able to handle critical situations quickly and efficiently ..
