Can a 40 year old shift to Software Development

0 votes
Hello people. My name is John and I am 40 years old. From the past few months, I have been thinking about the Software Development job. It started like this, I was using some Website and some Desktop applications and was wondering how it was built. Then did a little research about it. I have a friend who is a Software Engineer, had a chat with him. I am attracted to what Software Developers do, build applications. I am willing to become a Software Developer but as I mentioned, I am 40 years old. So is there any chance I can become a Software Developer?

Yes! There are no age criteria to become a Software Developer. All that matters is whether you have what it takes to be a Software Developer. Firstly, the passion and interest, which I am very clear that you have. Next, skills. A Software Developer should have good programming skills. Even if you don't know how to code, you can learn it. There are lots of resources online. Once done learning how to code, try building some application just so you know how it is to build a real application. You are now ready to become a Software Developer. Update your resume and get a job.

Hey John, there's no age criteria for becoming a software developer. All you need is willingness to learn and code. As the saying goes by: Age is just a number. So you shouldn't be worried about your age, until you have an eagerness to create something new. If you want to be a software developer, you can first start by learning some technology like JAVA or Python etc from youtube videos or blogs and then start doing some small projects of your own. To master any specific technology, you can also checkout Edureka's Online Courses. But just keep in mind that you should be first clear in your head which specific technology you want to work on and then you can simply dig into it.
