According to job opportunities the number is more in Bangalore rather than in Chennai. People prefer to work in Bangalore because the projects here are better. The pay grade is good. Number of startups here are more. The weather is great.

I respectfully disagree with this, the number of startups running in Chennai is more than that in Bangalore.
Hey @Sashi, even if the pay grades are better, the cost of living is also high. This results in fewer savings.

I think Chennai is a better place to start with your IT career as the quantity and quality of projects here are way better then in any city. Almost every MNC company are here. The work culture is amazing here. Increment in salary and job post is faster here. The climate is also appropriate. The traffic is not as hectic as that in Bangalore. Overall working in Chennai is pretty good.

I have always lived in Bangalore and would choose to work in Bangalore over Chennai any day. Job opportunities in Bangalore are abundant and plus the weather and the nightlife adds up :p

Bangalore is known as the IT hub of India but Chennai is not far off. IT companies are growing in Chennai as well.

There are many different factors to consider:

  • Bangalore is crowded, Chennai is not
  • Bangalore has a better climate
  • Bangalore makes it easy to commute to other parts of India.
  • But you'll save up more if you stay in Chennai as the cost of living is less compared to Bangalore

Bangalore is called the IT hub of India and it is called that for a reason. Bangalore has a great set of companies set up and the whole city has that environment of IT industry. It is easy for people from different places because of the IT environment here. Because most of the people in most of the places work in IT, it is easy to get along. It is a homely place and the climate is lovely!

I have been in Bangalore for 3 years and recently shifted to Chennai. I like Chennai more because when I was in Bangalore, I spent 3 hours every day to get to my workplace and get back home. It was hectic for me. Especially traffic and population. I would say Chennai is well structured and the cost of living is less. For a person earning as much as me, cost of living matters too much. I think Chennai is a better place.

For me, Bangalore is better. I have been living in Bangalore for 4 years and I have enjoyed every day spent here. What does an IT person want? Work for 5 days a week and party the rest of the days. You can do both in Bangalore. There are many companies settled here. You have lots of opportunities and chance to meet new people. You have lots of places to party, hang out, go out for a trip. Learning the culture, getting better chances, making a career in IT, everything is better here compared to Chennai.
