From my experience, Agile scope creep management is a fine balance between flexibility and discipline:
1. Prioritize Ruthlessly:
Continue to define the product backlog clearly, prioritizing the highest-value business items. All new requests must undergo priority and impact reviews.
2. Invite Stakeholders Frequently:
Frequent reviews and demos during sprints ensure that stakeholders are in sync with the progress; hence, there are no unnecessary changes midway through the sprint.
3. Have Clear Sprint Goals:
The team should focus on delivering the committed goals only once a sprint has started. Any scope changes should be preserved for subsequent sprint planning.
4. Train the Team:
Let the team know how scope creep impacts timelines and resources. This would make them more vigilant and proactive in ringing the alarm bells.
5. Introduce a Formal Change Request Process:
New requirements must undergo a formal process so their impact can be evaluated and, if necessary, re-prioritized in the product backlog.
