How to take images in android and save it on gallery as well as in the app-specific storage java android studio

Intel Pentium dual core, 1.3GHz, and 2GB RAM make up my computer. I have Android Studio loaded, but it is sluggish, and I'm new to developing for Android. Does adding 4GB of RAM help? I want to use an intent to launch the camera, take pictures, and save them locally in the gallery and the app's storage. How do I accomplish that?

I looked over this question as well, but I'm not sure why the code isn't functioning.
