Android Webiew does not load indexed Sdcard file sdcard

Question

When attempting to use mobile browsers to access (file:/sdcard/) (ex. Firefox, Opera ..etc). It displays an SDCard index page for me (see the screenshot).

However, when I access the same URL using a webview and give it storage permission and does not show the Index page.

Any help?

The code is simply a web view that receives an edit text URL If you pass the url file:/sdcard after running webView.loadUrl(editText.getText().toString()); it will not work. Additionally, you can test the URL in an Android emulator using Chrome for Android 10 or 11. My Samsung mobile has it working for me. When requested, make sure to provide storage permission.
