Hadoop is an open-source software framework for storing and processing data on commodity hardware clusters. It has a lot of storage for any sort of data, a lot of processing power, and it can perform almost unlimited concurrent processes or jobs. Hadoop was established in 2005 by Doug Cutting and Mike Cafarella. Hadoop's developer, Doug Cutting, named the framework after his son's toy elephant.
