The choice of the AWS Regions depends upon the Requirements. Let’s say most of your website most of the customers are in US, then you might pick a US Region like Ohio, Oregon, California. For Japanese customers, the Tokyo Region would provide the best latency. So, it all depends on the requirements. Following are to be considered for picking up a Region.
- Pricing (North Virginia Region is the oldest and the cheapest Region)
- Security and compliance requirement
- User/customer location
- Service availability
- Latency
For the sake of learning, I usually pick the North Virginia Region, as it is one of the cheapest of all the Regions and supports most of the AWS features.
