Public IP of the instance keeps fluctuating

I have created an EC2 instance and noticed this one thing, every time I stop the instance, my public IP changes. I'm using a default public VPC. Is this normal or have I gone wrong in creating the instance?

As long as your instance has a public and a private IP, you haven't gone wrong. The public is by default dynamic in nature. The IP address changes every time you stop the instance or restart it. Usually, we use these instances in collaboration with other services and because of this dynamic IP address, things get complicated. You'll have to explicitly change it to static.
