Amazon RDS or Amazon EC2 Relational Database AMIs

There are a lot of database options offered by AWS. Like there is Amazon RDS, Aurora, Redshift. So, my question is when would i use Amazon RDS and when to use Amazon EC2 relational database AMIs?

There are a lot of alternatives of database services for developers. You can use Amazon RDS if you want to avoid database administrative work but want to run a fully featured relational database. As for AMIs on Amazon EC2, they allow you to manage your own relational database in the cloud. Well, this is the most basic difference between these alternatives.
