Cannot connect to Hive from MicroStrategy BI tool

Question

I am using MicroStrategy BI tool. I want to connect Apache Hive with the Microstrategy tool. So, I started the hiveserver 2 & Hadoop daemons. I checked with sudo jps, all of the daemons are running. I there a way to connect to the BI tool without any authentication (user & password).

In MicroStrategy I followed 'Add New Datasource->Hadoop->DSN-less Datasource->Apache Hive'.  While giving any user & password, it is throwing an error.

The problem is with your hive authentication. You need to configure your hive authentication. Go to hive-site.xml file in the conf directory present in hive home.

There you have to add hive.server2.authentication property with the value as NONE.

Here you can specify the value as

• NONE
• LDAP
• KERBEROS
• CUSTOM
