Hadoop Hive How to split string in Hive

Question

Suppose I have a string like this:

A|B|C|D|E

then I want to have a function like array split(string input, char delimiter)

which gives ouput like this:

 [A,B,C,D,E].

Do we have any such functions?

You can use the split function along with regular expressions:

split(string str, string pattern)
