How do I create or use a global variable in function?

Is it necessary to store the global variable in a local variable of the function which needs its access?

The global variable can be used in other functions by declaring it as global in each function that assigns to it.

It can be used as such :

globvar = 0

def set_globvar_to_one():
    global globvar
    globvar = 1

def print_globvar():
    print(globvar)

set_globvar_to_one()
print_globvar()
