Amazon web services Where to start

I just graduated, therefore I wanted to learn more about building web applications with AWS. I read the instructions and successfully used their sample Travel Log application.

However, I'm still confused by the terminology being utilised. Could someone please provide me a clear explanation of the differences between Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), and Amazon SimpleDB?


I want to create a web application that includes a sign-in page and allows users to post text there. I want to know what Amazon services I would need to construct this app.
