I am 40 year old with total SAP ABAP career of 6 years and career gap of 8 years Can I get a decently paid job in IT and what will be the right direction

Due to certain personal situation I had to quit working in 2014. Then I was working as SAP ABAP consultant with 6 years work experience. Now as the things are sorted I want to work but it seems everything has changed and I am wondering which technology to pick and why would any employer will take me instead of a younger guy with more experience.
