Jenkins lost its knowledge of builds ran on the slave node when there is a ssh connection issue

Question

I am running a build using master and slave setup. When there is a ssh issue, jenkins master lost its knowledge on which agent it has ran the build and even the workspace is not getting cleared. Need a solution to tackle this.
