A cookie is a bit of data stored by the browser and sent to the server with every request.

A session is a collection of data stored on the server and associated with a given user (usually via a cookie containing an id code).

Session and cookies both are supper global variable of php. but in session we can store data on browser as the browser closed the session data will be distoried. but in cookies we can store data for long term on the browser.
