Partition Placement Group.

  • Every partition in a PG has its own set of racks> All the racks have their network and powerhouse.
  • There are mostly 7 partitions in each AZ. The number of instances in each partition is limited only by the account limits.
  • Partitions can be in different AZs in the same region.
  • Good for the large distributed workload.

Spread Placement Group

  • Each instance is placed in its rack. Each rack has at most one instance.
  • Good for deploying applications that have a smaller number of instances.
  • The group can span multiple AZs in the same region.
