Google Indexing Yoast SEO Media Attachments

Question

i have approximately 300 pages on my website  & Yoast SEO bug created attachment pages for all media that have  been indexed.

what's the best way to remove all of these from the index

as per the official yoast blog the recommend us to use the index purge plugin  to remove the attachment urls or in other ways 

its better to change the HTTP code to 410 removed so that when google will know you removed it when they re-index your page
