Let’s break down the answer into four sections; make sure you include these sections.
Section1 – Greeting
The first section should be a polite greeting followed by an expression of gratitude. For example, “Hi, my name is Maria. Thank you for taking the time to meet with me today.”
Section2 – Education and Experience
The second section varies depending on your background. If you are a fresher, you can start with your educational background. You can specify the degree and the institution. You can also briefly specify a relevant project/internship.
For example, “I am a BSc Computer Science Graduate from Oxford University. I worked on a project called Sentiment Analysis of Product Reviews using natural language processing.”
If you are a working professional, give an overview of your professional background, focusing on the job role, name of the company, and years of experience. You can also include the job responsibilities and your achievements as well.
For example, “I have five years of experience in Data management. In my recent role at Google, I worked on overseeing the development and use of data systems, ensuring effective data management, secure procedures, and data analysis.”
Section3 – Hobbies and Interests

The final section should be about your interest in the company and the job role. - Plan to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early for the interview.
- Dress professionally for the interview, Maintain good posture and good manners, and always make sure to maintain eye contact.
- Learn about the company, its culture, values, and products or services they offer.
- Understand the Job Description thoroughly and be prepared to discuss how your background aligns with what the employer is looking for.
- Prepare answers for some common questions like “Tell me about Yourself“, “What are your strengths and weaknesses?“, “Can you walk me through your resume/experience?” etc.
How to Introduce Yourself in an Interview: Don’ts for job interviews
- Be transparent and, more importantly, honestly be honest about your skills, experience, and qualifications. Lying or exaggerating can harm your chances of getting the job.
- Avoid speaking negatively about previous employers, coworkers, or experiences. It can reflect poorly on your attitude and interpersonal skills.
- Only provide personal information if asked to. Most interviewers are not interested in your personal details.
- Don’t interrupt the interviewer. Listen carefully to the question and take your time.
- Don’t drag the responses; instead, keep them short and to the point.
