Mastering Big Data skills could be your ticket to a bigger paycheck! According to Dice Tech Salary Survey, IT professionals with Big Data oriented languages, databases and skills took home the highest paychecks in 2013.
Yes, you heard it right!
This is a list of top 10 skills compiled by Dice, which is a hit in-term of pay. Most of these skills are Big Data specific.
Shravan Goli, President of Dice said, ”Companies are betting big that harnessing data can play a major role in their competitive plans, and that is leading to high pay for critical skills”. He also said that, “Technology professionals should be volunteering for Big Data projects, which makes them more valuable to their current employer and more marketable to other employers.”
Well, companies in all industries have understood the need of massive data sets at their disposal, which includes computer log files, social networking feeds, digital video/ audio and all that we can name. This has led to the demand for Big Data professionals with proficiency in Math and Statistics, with flair for art to effectively present the stats and figures.
Big Data salary is split in to two – Experience Levels and Kinds of Organizations.
Entry level salaries offered by Indian Organizations in the analytics space were 1.8-2.4 lakhs per annum, in the early years of 2000. Today, most analytical companies pay candidates a modest 4-7lakhs per annum at the entry level.
Going by the Big Data Market Forecasts of 2018, report conducted by Research and Markets, the total Big Data market is expected to grow from $14.87 billion in 2013 to $46.34 billion in 2018.
A recent O’Reilly strata survey stated that IT pros versed in open source and commercial Big Data tools can make a pretty penny. They can expect to earn up to $150,000 annually.
Indeed.com states that the average Big Data salaries for job postings nationwide are 48% higher than average Other IT jobs salaries.
Therefore, Big Data is large in a number of ways and the fact that it is gaining a lot of attention; it will be wise for IT pros to uncover Big Data opportunities. As said by David McRae, President of Info group in an interview, “Big Data is meaningless without man power”, and IT professionals should get themselves tooled with Big Data skills sooner.
